After returning back to the love of my life, UC, all I have to say is WOW! The past two days in Columbus were jam-packed, crazy, informational, professional, and full of opportunity. One of my favorite parts of the grad slam event for OSEPI, the Policy Summit, was getting to connect with OSU and the University of Akron. Although I am sad OSEPI is technically over and I am nearing the end of this Honors experience, I could not be more grateful for the opportunity. I learned how to address Senators and Representatives, I learned how to talk to lobbyists, but most importantly I learned that people do respect what I have to say. My brain is at maximum capacity right now, but I look forward to reflecting deeply on the experience for the rest of the semester. Here is a quick list of my thoughts right now:
Favorite Parts of OSEPI Policy Summit:
- Networking
- Meeting other college students
- Testifying
-Critical thinking
-Senator Peggy Lehner
Challenges of OSEPI Policy Summit:
- Political agenda
- Focus on Secondary education
-Feedback from Senators
